Games like Krillion: 8 daily games to play after your dive

Krillion's trick — easy question, hard answer — is rare in the daily-game world. Nothing else is quite it. But if you like what it asks of you (breadth, nerve, a little showing off), these scratch the same itch. First the ones from the same maker as this site, then the rest of the web.

1. Krillion Unlimited

The obvious first stop if you only know the original: the same rules with unlimited dives, category practice and a free archive. If one dive a day isn't enough, start here.

2. Poople Unlimited

A word ladder: change one letter at a time to turn a start word into POOP in as few steps as possible. Silly name, surprisingly deep — the shortest path is rarely the first one you see. Daily and unlimited, free, at playpoople.com.

3. Tango Unlimited

A sun-and-moon logic grid: fill a 6×6 board so no three of a kind touch and every row and column is balanced, with = and × clues between cells. Pure deduction, no trivia, two minutes. Free at tangounlimited.org.

4. Puzzlune

One site, a growing set of daily puzzles: Queens, Zip, Pips, Mini Sudoku, Tiles, Spelling Bee, Waffle, Quordle, each with unlimited mode and an archive. Good if your morning routine has room for more than one. puzzlune.com.

5. Connections

Sixteen words, four hidden groups of four. Where Krillion rewards knowing many things, Connections rewards seeing how things relate — and resisting the decoy group. No timer, which is either a relief or a problem.

6. Globle and Worldle

Geography with feedback: a mystery country you narrow down by distance or by silhouette. Both quietly teach the map, which pays off directly in Krillion's geography rounds.

7. Framed

Guess the film from six frames, revealed one at a time. If you always get it by frame two, you'll enjoy the Movies & TV prompts in Krillion, where naming the obvious film is only the beginning.

8. Pointless-style quizzes

The TV format Krillion most resembles: give the correct answer that the fewest people gave. Several fan-made web versions exist. They're slower and don't have the dive, but the mental move — skip the first answer you think of — is identical. Our strategy notes apply to them too.
